Galatians 3:26-4:7 "The True Child"

Intro: We have been discussing salvation comes through faith alone.

(True Faith)

I had neighbor when we lived in Huntington Beach and her daughter over dosed on drugs and she died

As a mom she was convinced her daughter was saved because at some point she said she had faith in Christ.

When you look at a life of someone who proclaims faith in Christ, the evidence of salvation is in the fruit of their life.

The Narrow Way:

Matthew 7:13–14 ““You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.”

Names for Satan:

The enemy, deceiver

**Do you think it’s possible for Satan to trick people into thinking they are saved when they are not?

1. (V27) Are you a true child of faith?

The main theme of Galatians: Paul’s message to you is this, a TRUE child of God is born through faith and not works

-Paul says in verse 29, that we must belong to Christ to be TRUE children of Abraham

How do you know if you a true child, if you belong to Christ?

Galatians 3:27 “And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.”

UNITED WITH CHRIST IN BAPTISM

a) Baptism: (Water baptism doesn’t save you) Paul uses the baptism as an illustration. Your old self sinks to the bottom and as you rise from the water you have become a new creation in Christ

Put on Christ / Put on your new clothes

Romans 13:14 “Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.”

Are you disobedient to your parents, are disrespectful to authority figures, are you mean to people, you have a foul mouth?

What is the evidence that the Holy Spirit lives inside of you?

Examine Yourself:

2 Corinthians 13:5 “Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.”

2 Peter 1:10 “So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen.

The evidence should be a new creation:

2 Corinthians 5:17 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
